113 – When grypinge griefes

Richard Edwards

Neutral Spinet Recording

Chamber Organ - improvisation

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Harpsichord - lute

This recording is perhaps the most successful of all the recordings of this piece. The use of the lute stop in combination with a slightly detached style of phrasing results in a very poised interpretation of this piece. The use of repeats is intending to extend the musical material in order to accompany a lively dance. The use of simple ornamentation emphasises the understated, yet still lively affect of this piece.

Spinet - introspective

This recording on the spinet presents listeners with a totally different sound world to the others. This performance is introspective and is led by the underlying darker emotions present in this piece. The contrasting use of higher and lower registers on the spinet aims to exaggerates the drama in this interpretation. The use of these contrasting registers also highlights the many different tone colours the spinet is capable of producing. Understated ornamentation embellishes the beautiful melody while attempt to not distract the listener (as overly fussy ornamentation can sometimes do).
