Secular Recordings
Browse below for a variety of secular recordings of pieces from The Mulliner Book.
The commentaries that accompany each recording summarise my own personal reflections on the artistic process I undertook in each recording, my own listening experience, and my reflection on the resulting outcome. These commentaries are designed to inform your own listening experience and to help you understand my artistic decisions and the thought processes behind such decisions. However, you (as the listener) may have a completely contrasting view to mine (as the performer) regarding what you heard in the recording and whether it was successful. Occasionally you may feel as though my commentaries do not match your listening experience and this is an outcome I completely understand and acknowledge as a possibility. Ultimately, the recordings produced by this project are an experiment, both for me and the listener. They are designed to challenge the ways in which performers interpret this music and the expectations we (as listeners) have of this music.
